Lazy Eyes (Amblyopia)

Amblyopia is reduced vision in one or both eye(s) that has not received adequate stimulation during early childhood.

Amblyopia, also known as “Lazy Eye” has many causes. Most often it results from either a misalignment of a child's eyes, such as crossed eyes, or a difference in image quality between the two eyes (one focusing better than the other.)

Early detection and treatment are important to avoid permanent vision defect which can not be corrected by any means after the age of 8 or 9.

Treatment Options:

  • Spectacles correction

  • Eye exercise / patching
